Agni (अग्नि, [aɡʱɲiː]) is a word of Sanskrit origin (cognate latin word ignis), means "fire". It also is the name of the god of fire in Hindu mythology. Additionally, Agnes (Αγνή, pronounced Agni) is a female name of Greek origin meaning "pure" or "holy".
