Template:Sideicon Template:FFXII Enemies The Etém is an undead/reaper-type enemy from Final Fantasy XII found in the Henne Mines.

Much like the Reapers found in the Great Crystal, the Etéms can be made docile if Vanish or Vanishga is used on them, since they do not attack the party if they are invisible. But, it only works if they never did notice the party.

Bestiary Entry

Genus: Undead
Class: Reaper

Page 1: Observations

Being casualties of invasion or oppression, these entities appear before those who are doomed to die, cutting away their victims' lives with cruel scythes, out of hatred for the men who ended theirs. Many accounts hold these creatures to be a sort of grim reaper, but recent research has confirmed them to be nothing more than ghosts.

Hear ye, hear ye! Another Day of Dust has come and gone, and what a day it was! On what other day can you have fey dust sprinkled upon your forehead, instantly absolving you of all sin and evil? Of course, it's not always such a day of rejoicing. Why, last year, shipments of the dust, known as soul powder, where waylaid and merchants everywhere sold out of the stuff far too quickly. This year, stock was set aside in advance, and all who wished to participate could.

Trivia

  • There exists a glitch where if an Etém is inflicted with both Disable and Confuse, it will continuously teleport without pause. They cannot be killed, cannot be dispelled, and the status effects will not wear out, as they are paused while the enemy is teleporting. (Unconfirmed with other enemies of the same type)
  • Etéms sometimes spawn Necrofiends after being defeated, which is odd since they belong to the Reaper classification, which is supposed to be a higher order of the undead with no soul to become a ghost. Also, their entry in the Bestiary states they are nothing but ghosts, raising the mystery even higher as ghosts aren't supposed to release ghosts after being defeated due to them being souls themselves.
