Esther, also known as Ester prior to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, is a minor character in Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. She is the best manager for Chocobo riders in Gold Saucer's Chocobo Square.

Original Continuity[]
After overhearing a conversation between Cloud and his party with Mr. Coates in the Corel Prison, she agrees to help Cloud out by teaching him about racing Chocobos. Esther gives Cloud a Chocobo for the race, and if the player fails, she will keep on giving better and better Chocobos until they win, up to a maximum of four fails, after which point she will state it was the best that she had and suggest the player set the race on auto.
After Cloud wins the race, Esther can be found at the Chocobo Square. Talking to her allows the player to register one of their own Chocobos in a race and ride them after acquiring the Highwind and Cloud rejoins the party. The first time the player wins ten races with the same S-rank Chocobo (19 race wins in total), Esther will give the player the Sprint Shoes, Precious Watch, Cat's Bell, Chocobracelet and Counter Attack Materia.
Remake Continuity[]
Cloud is introduced to Esther in Corel Prison with the intention of becoming Piko's jockey for the next big chocobo race. Esther and Chocobo Billy task Cloud to procure enough sylkis greens to feed and restore Piko to health. After Piko's recovery, Esther escorts them to the chocobo jockey lounge and registers Cloud for the race. She will also trade some chocobo gear for any extra greens Cloud has acquired.
Characteristics[]
Esther is a youthful looking woman with reddish blonde hair and blue eyes. Esther wears a pink dress with a red bow-tie and a white apron, and wears a yellow chocobo feather in her hair. In the original she wears white elbow gloves and loose white socks. In Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, her dress was split into a top which shows off her midriff and a skirt along with red boots that go up to her calves.
