Beakor

Aepyornis (previously translated as Beakor) makes its first appearance in Final Fantasy VI. It can Poison party members, but is a fairly weak enemy overall.

Final Fantasy VII[]

Epiolnis FF7

Epiolnis is an enemy from Final Fantasy VII. Its attacks and HP are very weak for the point in the game it is fought at, and it can be killed easily. It drops rare Wizard Bracelets, and is the only source of them once Mideel is destroyed.

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[]

The Epiornis and other creatures of the same genus sport strong kicks and bites, so it is good to keep distance away from it. Magic attacks will be the most effective way to achieve quick victory. If one does not want to use magic, a few Assault Twisters from behind will suffice.

Other enemies of this type include:

Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-[]

Though its short range attacks are very powerful, Epiolnis has no long range moves, so fighting it at a distance is recommended. Its weak point is in its head.

Final Fantasy XV[]

While the monsters do not explicitly appear, birdbeast eggs and meat are known as "Aepyornis eggs" and "Aepyornis meat" respectively in the Japanese version.

Etymology[]

Aepyornis is a genus of extinct, flightless bird more commonly known as an "elephant bird".
