The Epic Games Store is a digital distribution system for Macintosh and Microsoft Windows PCs owned and operated by video game publisher Epic Games. Much as with Valve's Steam or EA's Origin platforms, registered users can purchase and download games that have been sanctioned for distribution by Epic Games, if not already published by Epic or any of its subsidiaries.

Epic Games itself created the Unreal Engine game physics API kit for the 1990s MMO fighting games of the same name. Square Enix uses various versions of the engine in many of its modern titles.
