The Enterprise is the world's first ship in the waters of Valisthea in Final Fantasy XVI that is powered by mythril engines. Its captain, Midadol Telamon, boasts that it is the fastest ship in the world.

The Enterprise was designed by the father-daughter duo of Mid and Cid to serve as a "last hope for humanity" should all of Valisthea be lost to the Blight so they might sail to lands hitherto unknown.[1] The ship was completed by Mid and her team at the Ironworks shipyard in Kanver for use of the Cursebreakers.

The ship's outward construct somewhat resembles the airships of Fallen origin, whose ruins dot the landscape of Valisthea. It has red and black sails. It is the only known mythril-powered ship in the world, a highly concentrated source of energy, allowing the ship to achieve speeds thrice that of a galleon at full mast.[1]

History[]

Enterprise at Ironworks from FFXVI

The Enterprise at the Ironworks.

Cid and Mid had been working on designing the ship together. Mid made it her project at the Kanver University, where she had a workshop, a team of shipwrights, and use of a shipyard: the Ironworks. The project was at least partly financed by Byron Rosfield.[1] Clive Rosfield helped her gather parts to complete the mythril engine, and the ship was ready to sail after Clive and his friends battled the Waloeder army in Kanver. Though multiple copies of Sleipnir Harbard invaded the docks, the group managed to pull out with the ship and use it to pursue Waloed's flagship, the Einherjar.

When the Enterprise caught with Einherjar, Clive boarded the enemy ship to save Jill Warrick held captive within while his brother, Joshua Rosfield fought Barnabas Tharmr, the king of Waloed and the Dominant of Odin, as the Phoenix. Joshua's attack was repelled, but Clive joined to face Odin as Ifrit. Odin used Zantetsuken to slice a gash into the ocean itself, but Mid—captaining the Enterprise—managed to avoid plunging into it and sail to safety. She later returned to pick up Clive and Jill from the Shadow Coast where they had managed to retreat.

Mid took Clive, Joshua, and their scout friend Gav back to Shadow Coast on the Enterprise so they could pursue Barnabas, investigate Ash and Waloed, and attack Drake's Spine. She later sailed the ship straight to the Waloeder capital of Stonhyrr, which they found abandoned and teeming with Akashic, bringing reinforcements to aid Clive and Joshua's efforts. After Drake's Spine was destroyed and the emergence of Origin, Clive ordered Mid and the Cursebreakers to retreat via Enterprise, with Dion holding off the Akashic at Stonhyrr long enough for the Cursebreakers to safely embark before rejoining them.
