Enemy Intel
The Enigmatic Spectre is a boss in Final Fantasy VII Remake encountered in the Sector 7 slums. It is a unique purple-hued Whisper that appears to attack Avalanche in Chapters 4 and 12 alongside the Mysterious Spectres. In Chapter 4, "Mad Dash", it appears during Sudden Attack and is fought by Cloud and Tifa. In Chapter 12, "Fight for Survival", it appears to Cloud, Tifa and Aerith during "Head for the Pillar", and is again flanked by the Mysterious Spectres.

Battle[]
The battle in Chapter 4 starts with the spectre binding Tifa. Defeating the mysterious spectres increases the enigmatic spectre's stagger gauge and makes it available to target. The enigmatic spectre resists damage until pressured.
Strategy[]
In Chapter 4, Cloud can use a spell or attacks to free Tifa. The player should destroy a mysterious spectre, and then focus on the enigmatic spectre with spells or normal attacks to stagger it. Once staggered, Tifa's Unbridled Strength with a martial technique increases the damage it takes. If no mysterious spectres are available, the player can just attack with spells until some appear. When the enigmatic spectre creates a trapping black hole, the player should keep dodging until it dissipates.
The player can use magic and Triple Slash as Cloud. When playing as Tifa, the player can first use Whirling Uppercut and while midair use Divekick. When Aerith is in the party in Chapter 12, she can help with magic use. Lightning magic is a good choice of spell as the bolts are guaranteed to hit.
Hard Mode[]
The player needs to stagger the mysterious spectre before defeating it. First tier spells can be used to pressure them, then stagger with Focused Thrust/Focused Strike. In Chapter 12, Aerith's MP pool can be used up to defeat the spectres as she does not partake in any more battles after this. When the enigmatic spectre is staggered, the player can increase its stagger gauge with Aerith's Ray of Judgment and Tifa's abilities. Cloud's Infinity's End on a staggered enigmatic spectre should defeat it; the player can use Haste on the party to build ATB faster.
Defeating the Enigmatic Spectre will unlock a manuscript for Tifa, Way of the Fist Vol. V.
Musical themes[]
The battle music is the "Whispers' Theme" (フィーラーのテーマ, Fīrā no Tēma?), composed by Masashi Hamauzu.
