Elvoret is a Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Elvoret is the fifty-seventh card in the inventory and the second Level 6 card. It depicts the boss Elvoret fought atop the Communications Tower in Dollet.
Elvoret has middling values but its value placements may also be useful for games that use Same and/or Plus. It is a wind-elemental card, which comes into effect when the Elemental rule is in play. Placing the Elvoret on a tile with a matching tornado symbol boosts the card's stats by +1. The increased values do not count toward Same/Plus triggering, but do count toward Combo mechanics.
Obtain[]
There is a 6.3% chance to get Elvoret when successfully using the Card command on an Ochu or a Bite Bug.
Any AI Triple Triad player who uses Level 6 cards has a chance of using Elvoret in a play, from where the player can win it in a card match. Examples of players are prisoner in D-District Prison, CC Heart of the Card Club, Grease Monkey in Fishermans Horizon, Cid Kramer, and Laguna Loire. In the end of the game, all CC members besides CC Diamond will play with Level 6 cards when aboard the Ragnarok if the player completed the CC quest before the point of no return.
Card Mod[]
An Elvoret card refines into 10 Death Stones with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. While not inconsequential, a better way to get Death spells is via farming from Tonberry cards as there isn't a huge benefit in using magic via the Item command as opposed to the Magic command when the expended spell are easily enough replenished.
Physical version[]
In 1999, following the release of Final Fantasy VIII in Japan, Bandai produced a full set of collectible Triple Triad cards in Final Fantasy VIII Carddass Masters Perfect Visuals. The set was made up of the 110 cards as seen in the game along with 72 artwork cards and a collector's edition playing mat. The cards have a blue side and a red side.
