Elixir is an usable item in Final Fantasy VII that restores all HP and MP to one party member. It is also an item requested by the Magic Pot enemy in exchange for great AP and EXP yields, and can trigger Cover. Elixir is a rare item.

Mechanics[]
Elixir fully restores a character.
If the player attempts to try to use an Elixir on a party member that does not have the Cover materia, and a party member with the Cover materia is able to trigger Cover, that party member will instead cover the Elixir. The reason this occurs is due to Elixir having the Physical tag, being the only recovery item with such a tag.
The Infinite Elixir glitch allows the player to obtain unlimited Elixirs at the Great Glacier.
Use[]
Elixirs fully heal a party member's HP and MP on use. They are fairly rare (outside of using the infinite glitch), making them a clutch item to use in difficult situations, rather than something that should be relied upon heavily. Though Elixirs provide a full heal, if a party member is only low on HP or does not cast spells often, players can prioritize other means of healing HP rather than expending Elixirs too often, preserving Elixirs for other cases.
As an alternative for healing party members low on MP, Turbo Ether can be used to fully heal MP. Regular Ethers in most situations will restore enough MP for most use cases, but Elixirs are much more ATB-efficient.
If the player wishes to farm EXP and AP quickly, Elixirs are needed to damage Magic Pot at the North Crater at the end of the game. The player can use the W-Item duplication bug to easily make Elixirs for this purpose.
