Battle[]
The Elite Riot Trooper is a sturdier, more powerful version of the Riot Trooper, boasting even higher HP and defensive stats. He is often accompanied by Security Officers and Grenadiers and other Riot Troopers, providing a solid frontline to protect their ranged-oriented allies.
His riot shield blocks most normal attacks, which will bounce characters back when they hit it, dealing minimal damage to him. The Elite Riot Trooper attacks with his stun baton when approached, and often counters direct assaults with a shield slam. He also employs two abilities: Truncheon, a stronger version of the Riot Trooper's Stun Baton, and Riot Shield, a powerful shield slam attack.
Hard mode[]
On the hard difficulty the Elite Riot Trooper will turn around faster when the player attacks him from behind. He is more resistant to attacks, and less susceptible to flinching.
Strategy[]
Much like the vast majority of human-type enemies, the Elite Riot Trooper is weak against Fire. Magic will penetrate his riot shield, including magic-based abilities (i.e. Sorcerous Storm, Blade Burst); physical-based abilities will bounce back or deal minimal damage if hitting his shield.
The only way to deal direct physical damage to the Elite Riot Trooper is to attack him from behind. Switching between characters constantly is useful to draw his attention and outflank him. Cloud is particularly effective against the Elite Riot Trooper thanks to his counter-attack while in Punisher Mode.
Both Stun Baton and Truncheon have a windup animation, giving the player enough time to react and dodge. It is usually not recommended to block these attacks, as they will still stun the player even if they block. During and after these abilities, the Elite Riot Trooper will be in his most vulnerable state, allowing for quick retaliation.
