The Elementalist (精霊使い, Seireitsukai?, lit. Spirit User) is a recurring job in the Final Fantasy series, and one of the many classes that had their debut in the Tactics Advance series. Like their name shows, they use the powers of the elements in battle.
Appearances[edit | edit source]
The Spirit Magic skillset consists mostly of spells that have a range of three tiles, deal elemental damage, and inflict a negative status effect. Their most advanced ability, Elementalshift, randomly changes the target's elemental resistance. When played correctly, Elementalists can exploit their adversaries' innate weaknesses with a versatile set of elemental magic.
Elementalist job class is available to viera. They are similar to Red Mages, since they equip rapiers and use the elements to damage and inflict status ailments on the foes or heal party members. However, they can only target one foe or party member at time with their magick, with the exception of White Flame. Elementalists' strength is higher than most mage classes, so they will not be heavily weakened when silenced.
Elementalists can enhance the elemental power of characters' attacks, and shield them from elemental damage. The Elementalist crown halves elemental damage dealt to the wearer.

Etymology[edit | edit source]
Classical elements typically refer to ancient concepts similar to the modern states of matter: earth (solid), water (liquid), air (gas) and fire (plasma). Classical elements are the simplest form of existence, of everything in existence. Many philosophies and worldviews believe in classical elements.
