Set an element to enhance and use for ninjutsu attacks.

Description

Elemental Ninjutsu is an ability for Yuffie in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, granted by the 4-Point Shuriken 4-Point Shuriken. It allows her to imbue her ninjutsu regular attacks with one of four elements: Fire Fire, Ice Ice, Lightning Lightning, or Wind Wind. The element currently in use is displayed next to her name in the battle UI.

Elemental Ninjutsu is a returning ability from "Episode INTERmission".

Obtained[]

Elemental Ninjutsu is provided by the 4-point shuriken, and is already learned when Yuffie joins.

Use[]

After building up an ATB segment, the player can open the Abilities menu and choose Ninjutsu, and scroll Left or right to change the element between fire (default), ice, lightning, and wind. This will imbue Yuffie's ninjutsu attacks, her magic-based attacks available after she uses Throw, with the element. This will also apply to her Banishment and Foxflame.

Using Assess Materia Assess Materia, which Yuffie also starts with, the player can determine the enemies' elemental weaknesses and change Yuffie's elemental affinity accordingly. In some cases, targeting the elemental weakness will pressure an enemy. The availability of Elemental Ninjutsu also means Yuffie does not need to use Elemental Materia Elemental Materia offensively (though she may wish to use it defensively). If Yuffie does use the elemental materia in her weapon, it will only affect her physical attack and not her ninjutsu.

Etymology[]

Ninjutsu, sometimes used interchangeably with the term ninpō, is the martial art, strategy, and tactics of unconventional and guerrilla warfare, as well as the art of espionage purportedly practiced by the shinobi (commonly known outside of Japan as ninja). The feature of mudras and Sanskrit-like writing in their casting refers to the magic of Horiki, said to be fantastical powers gained in the sects of Mikkyo Buddhism through intensive meditation, and are purported to be one curriculum in Ninjutsu responsible for their mythical powers.
