Set an element to enhance and use for ninjutsu attacks.

Description

Elemental Ninjutsu is Yuffie's default ability in "Episode INTERmission" in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. It allows her to imbue her attack with one of four elements: Fire Fire, Ice Ice, Lightning Lightning, or Wind Wind.

Elemental Ninjutsu is not a returning ability from the original Final Fantasy VII, but a new addition to Remake. It plays on Yuffie's role as a ninja, and Ninjutsu is a recurring skillset for this job in the Final Fantasy series.

Obtain[]

Elemental Ninjutsu is the ability of Yuffie's default weapon, the File:Yuffie shuriken from FFVII Remake icon.png 4-Point Shuriken. It is learned permanently by using it in battle to change Yuffie's elemental affinity, which affects her ninjutsu attacks and Banishment; Fire Ninjutsu changes it into a Fiery Banishment, Ice Ninjutsu into Icy Banishment, Lightning Ninjutsu to Thunderous Banishment, and Wind Ninjutsu to Aeolian Banishment (all of which have corresponding II and III versions).

The ability is learned faster by exploiting an enemy's elemental weakness with it.

Use[]

After building up an ATB segment, the player can open the Abilities menu and choose Ninjutsu, and scroll Left or right to change the element between fire (default), ice, lightning, and wind. Yuffie's ninjutsu attacks and Banishment take on this element until the battle ends, or she uses Elemental Ninjutsu again to choose a different element.

Double ninjutsu when synergized from FFVIIR INTERmission

Double lightning ninjutsu with Sonon when synergized.

Yuffie uses magical ninjutsu on her target with Square when her weapon is thrown. After throwing the shuriken, holding Square sends a blast of the chosen element to juggle opponents that are within range (its reach is very long, however). When synergized with Sonon, he will attack Yuffie's target with the same damage type she is using, including elemental ninjutsu.

Using Assess Materia Assess Materia, which Yuffie also starts with, the player can determine the enemies' elemental weaknesses and change Yuffie's elemental affinity accordingly. If enemies in the same battle have different elemental weaknesses, the player should concentrate on them one type at a time, and then change the element when switching to a new enemy type. Mastering Assess allows the player to assess all enemies in battle at once. After being assessed once, the information is recorded in the Enemy Intel, and can be viewed mid-battle with Touchpad. In general, human enemies are weak to fire, wild beasts are weak to ice, mechanical enemies are weak to lightning, and flying enemies are weak to wind, though this does not always hold true for every opponent.

Because Yuffie can already use elemental magical attacks without an MP cost via her ninjutsu, she often does not inherently need any offensive Magic Materia Magic Materia, and instead can can focus on other materia.

The ability is similar to using Elemental Materia Elemental Materia in a weapon with an elemental magic materia, but they are not one and the same. Elemental Ninjutsu will only affect her ninjutsu attacks, and her Banishment ability, while elemental materia will add damage of the paired element to all of her attacks, besides spells.

The weapon from which Elemental Ninjutsu is learned from, 4-Point Shuriken, also gains the Elemental Damage Up weapon passive that makes using the ability even better. File:Yuffie shuriken from FFVII Remake icon.png Boomerang, meanwhile, also has individual weapon passives for boosting damage from each element.

Etymology[]

Ninjutsu, sometimes used interchangeably with the term ninpō, is the martial art, strategy, and tactics of unconventional warfare and guerrilla warfare as well as the art of espionage purportedly practiced by the shinobi (commonly known outside of Japan as ninja). The feature of mudras and Sanskrit like writing in their casting refers to the magic of Horiki, being said to be fantastical powers gained in the sects of Mikkyo Buddhism through intensive meditation, and are said to be one curriculum in Ninjutsu said to be responsible for their mythical powers.
