FF4PSP Ability Bardsong

Guardian's Ballad in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (PSP).

Elegy (守りの歌, Mamori no Uta?, lit. Defense Song), also known as Guardian's Ballad, is an ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is often usable by Bards as part of their Sing skillset, and lowers the damage enemies deal to the party.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy III[]

Elegy is an ability of the Sing command, accessible by the Bard while equipped with the Apollo Harp in the 3D remake releases. It increases magic defense to all party members, with the effectiveness rising with higher job levels. It stacks with Shell.

Sing formula:

Recipient's Magic Defense + (20 + Recipient's JobLv / 11)%

In the Pixel Remaster release, Elegy is now learned at Bard job level 20. When used, it raises the defense of all party members for five turns.

Final Fantasy IV[]

Guardian Song appears exclusively in the Japanese cellphone re-release of the game. The ability is one of Edward's abilities that will randomly activate when using the Bardsong command. When used, it grants Protect and Shell on the entire party.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]

Guardian Song is one of Edward's abilities that will randomly activate when using the Bardsong command. When used, it grants Protect and Shell on one ally or to the entire party.

Princess Sarah, Aerith, Prishe, Ashe, Snow, and Cosmos learn all three levels of Elegy.
