Armlet made in the dark world.

Description

The Egoist's Armlet is a mid to endgame arm guard in Final Fantasy IX that everyone but Steiner and Freya can wear. It teaches Beast Killer, which improves damage against beast enemies, and Level Up, which allows the character to gain more EXP from battles. The Egoist's Armlet is used in synthesis and nullifies Shadow damage to the wearer.

Obtain[]

The Egoist's Armlet is found in the Lindblum Castle guest room after the Battle of Alexandria. The player is taken here automatically as part of the story.

The armlet is also bought for 2,000 gil from Oeilvert, Desert Palace, Esto Gaza (after Desert Palace), and Daguerreo.

Mechanics[]

The Egoist's Armlet provides 20 physical and magical evasion, improving the wearer's chance to avoid damage. It nullifies Shadow damage to the wearer.

Use[]

The Egoist's Armlet is a good arm guard for the world map exploration on the Blue Narciss onward, and though acquired early can be used until the endgame as it has good evasion for both physical and magic attacks, whereas most following arm guards prioritize one or the other; in fact, only the Jade Armlet has more Magic Evasion than the Egoist's Armlet, though the ultimate arm guard, Bracer, comes close.

The ability Beast Killer from the armlet is not an ability to prioritize as there there are only few beast type enemies and no such bosses. Level Up is likewise not important unless the player is grinding, but can be good to master in case the player wants to grind later (best done with stat-boosting gear).

The Shadow-nullifying effect can be good when either enemies or Vivi use Doomsday, making it good in the superboss battles against Ozma and Hades.

The Egoist's Armlet is used in synthesis to make the Rubber Suit in the endgame.

The guest characters from Tantalus can also wear the Egoist's Armlet, though the player cannot see this in a normal playthrough.
