Eden (エデン, Eden?) is a recurring entity in the Final Fantasy series. Initially appearing as a summoned monster, it is a massive angelic and alien figure of immense power.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy VIII[]
Eden appears as the game's ultimate Guardian Force, drawn from the optional boss Ultima Weapon at the bottom of the Deep Sea Research Center bonus dungeon. It can break the damage limit and has the rare Speed, Evasion, and Hit junctions. Its unique abilities let the junctioner devour opponents for various effects, some of the most beneficial being permanent stat boosts, and to create items that teach abilities to Guardian Forces. Eden takes 1000 EXP to level up, most of any GF, and the same amount it takes for a playable character to level up.
Final Fantasy XIII[]
Eden is a fal'Cie responsible for the administration and security of Cocoon, running the complex operations that keep the floating continent running. It works as the nexus that connects the other fal'Cie and directs their power in sustaining Cocoon. As this requires untold amounts of energy, Eden siphons power from the sleeping fal'Cie Orphan located in a dimension Eden has created inside itself, called Orphan's Cradle. As Eden itself is an immobile structure, it employs servants to act in its stead.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Eden is the focus of the raid of the same name. Being the first sin eater, it brought about the Flood of Light to the First after Ardbert and his compatriots defeated the Ascian Loghrif. By the events of Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers, Eden stands in a state of inactivity in the Empty - a region of Norvrandt that is drowned in the primordial light of the Flood. Throughout the events of the first tier of the Eden raids, the Warrior of Light uses Eden's powers to aid in the restoration of the First.
An avatar of Eden, Eden Prime, appears the boss of the Eden's Gate: Resurrection raid. Eden itself appears midway through the battle to perform its signature Eternal Breath attack. Completing Eden's Gate: Sepulture rewards players with a minion version called Eden Minor and completing Eden's Promise: Eternity (Savage) rewards players with Eden as a mount.
World of Final Fantasy[]
Balamb Garden is a large Mirage named "Eden", referring to the possible link to Final Fantasy VIII Gardens and their technological prowess; in World of Final Fantasy that connection is the mechanical Cogna.
Final Fantasy Record Keeper[]
Eden appears as a Crystal Dungeon boss and as a rank 6 magicite. There are eighteen forms of the Eden, with each version associated with a specific element and divided into physical and magic oriented battles. Its magicite summon attack is Eternal Breath, which deals defense ignoring elemental damage to a single foe, along with lowering their resistance to all elements. The summon attack's attribute and element varies on the magicite type.
Mobius Final Fantasy[]
Eden appeared as a water-elemental Monk ability card for players to summon during the Final Fantasy VIII collaboration event. It allowed player characters to perform the Last Breath (エターナルブレス, Etānaru Buresu?, lit. Eternal Breath) Monk ability, which dealt multiple water damage attacks to enemies within an area of effect. Additionally, it granted the Drive Tap elemental resistance buff and the damage increasing Mantra buff.
Final Fantasy Trading Card Game[]
Eden appears on a promotional card depicting its official artwork by Tetsuya Nomura. The card is Shine-elemental.
