Description
The Echo Screen is a status healing item in Final Fantasy IX used to remove Silence, a status abnormality that prevents the affected from using magic. It is a common treasure in Chocobo Hot and Cold. It can also be used in synthesis late into the game to make Ethers.

Echo Screen are sold in shops for 50 gil apiece everywhere but in Dali. They are also a common find while playing Chocobo Hot and Cold; if the player partakes in this quest, they likely never need to buy any Echo Screen.
There is one Echo Screen to pick up in Lindblum Business District residence north of the pickle seller 
during the first visit to the town, and in Cleyra outside the cathedral 
.
Echo Screen can drop from Adamantoise, Axe Beak, Clipper, Dragonfly, Ghost, Gigan Toad (A), Goblin, Goblin Mage, Grimlock Blue, Jabberwock, Mu, Myconid, Seeker Bat, Tiamat (Crystal World), Trick Sparrow, Type C, Vepal (Green), Vice, Wraith (Blue Flame), Wraith (Red Flame), and Ladybug (Friendly), and can also be stolen from Magic Vice, Mandragora, Nymph, Ring Leader, Soldier (A), Soldier (B), and Vice.

Echo Screen are used to remove Silence status. This may be useful in the battles against Gizamaluke, Mandragora, Nymph, Grimlock, Quale, Ring Leader, Stroper, Abomination, Gimme Cat, the Friendly Yan, Tiamat, and the final boss.
An Echo Screen can be used in synthesis with a Vaccine to produce a Ether at the secret synthesis shop in the final dungeon.
