Template:Sideicon The Earth Elemental, also known as the EARTH or Gnoma in the NES and PlayStation versions respectively, is an enemy in the original Final Fantasy, fought in the Cavern of Earth and Chaos Shrine.

Locations
Earth Elemental is the strongest normal enemy in the Cavern of Earth, and it can be encountered several times guarding spaces or treasure chests:
- Guarding right side of a chest, east of the entrance.
- Guarding a space of two chests, southeast to the entrance.
- Guarding the front of a chest that contains a Potion, southern from the entrance.
- Guarding the front of two chests, in B3.
- Guarding multiple spaces in the bat-filled room in the B3.
Later in the game, they appear in the "Lich Room", in the Chaos Shrine 2,000 years in the past.
Battle
Earth Elemental is weak to Fire, but is resistant against most other magical attacks.

Etymology
elemental is a mythic being described in occult and alchemical works from around the time of the European Renaissance and particularly elaborated in the 16th century works of Paracelsus.
Angnome, which is said to live underground and is the Earth Elemental in alchemy.
