The Earth Dragon (アースドラゴン, Āsudoragon?), also known as the Earth Tyrant, Earth Raptor, Dirt Drgn, or DirtDrgn, is a recurring creature in the Final Fantasy series, first appearing in Final Fantasy VI. As its name suggests, it a dragon associated with the earth element, and attacks using powerful earth-elemental abilities. Unlike other recurring dragons, it most frequently appears as a theropod dinosaur.

Final Fantasy VI[]
The Earth Dragon, also known as the DirtDrgn or Dirt Drgn, is one of the eight legendary dragons, and appears as a boss encountered in the Opera House in the World of Ruin. It fights using primarily
Earth-elemental attacks, such as Quake, Magnitude 8, and Landslide, and counters the
Float status with 50 Gs. In the Advance and Matrix Software releases, it can be encountered again in the Dragons' Den, instead primarily attacking with a barrage of powerful physical attacks, and if any characters are under Float, it will counter with 50 Gs, Magnitude 8, and Quake in succession.
Final Fantasy XII[]
The Earth Tyrant appears as an optional boss encountered in the Dalmasca Westersand, where it is the primary cause of sandstorms in the area. Defeating it will lessen the frequency with which sandstorms occur. It fights using primarily physical attacks that can inflict Poison in addition to Screwtail and Sonic Fangs. It has a tremendous amount of HP, and when under 50% Max HP, will increase its Defense, prolonging the battle. The Earth Tyrant can be encountered again in stage 19 of the Trial Mode in the Zodiac releases.

The Earth Dragon appears as an enemy encountered in the Snowfly Forest.
Final Fantasy Dimensions[]
The Earth Raptor appears as an enemy encountered on the World Map during Chapter 4. It attacks primarily with Quake, but also uses the Fang and Critical attacks as well.
