Earth is an element in Final Fantasy XII, opposed to Wind. Its damage is amplified by 20% in sandstorm weather and in sand terrain (these effects do not stack) and Earth damage is halved in water terrain. There are no Earth-elemental spells for the player to use, but there is an Earth-attuned Esper obtained very late into the game and some Earth-elemental weapons. The Float status can protect from some Earth abilities but its main use is to avoid traps.

The Earth-affected gambits are "Foe: earth-weak" and "Foe: earth-vulnerable"; the latter triggers against any foe that does not outright absorb the element, even if the foe is immune to Earth. In the original PlayStation 2 version, these gambits are only available to purchase from gambit shops after the party obtains the Treaty-Blade, "earth-weak" costing 500 gil and "earth-vulnerable" costing 250 gil. In the Zodiac versions, these gambits only cost 70 gil and are available to buy ever since the party escapes the Nalbina Dungeons.

Diver-type enemies and bat-type enemies are weak to earth. Many tortoise-types absorb it.
