Earth is an element in Final Fantasy VII. It is first available to the player upon reaching Kalm where they can obtain the Earth Materia. Earth attacks do not work on flying enemies, limiting its usefulness.

Use[]
Earth is useless against airborne enemies, reducing its overall usefulness. Only 4 enemies in the entire game are weak to the element, while the vast majority of other grounded enemies are neutral to the element. If the player is looking for an element to use, it is more advised to use either Fire, Ice, or Lightning. If the player still wishes to use Earth, there are not many means of using the element outside of the Earth and Titan Materia. For single targets, the Break spell is the best to use.
Protection against Earth is not highly needed as very few Earth abilities are used by enemies. If the player wishes to protect against the element, it is best used for the final boss and against Lost Number.
