DFFOO EX Abilities Tutorial — EX Abilities tutorial.

EX Ability or simply EX, is a gameplay term from Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia. It serves as the Limit Break system, granting access to an ultimate, exclusive ability for each character. Initially, as with other weapons, equipping a weapon with an EX ability will make it available for use. By upgrading the weapon through Limit Break, the EX Ability will be upgraded with additional passives; and once the weapon is fully upgraded, the EX ability will become an equippable skill.

EX Abilities are given to select characters through updates. The initial wave was released alongside Chapter 11 and level cap awakening to Level 60, and featured Cloud and Shantotto's EX weapons. Character events from Royal Hope forward carry an EX weapon for one of the three boosted characters. Lost Chapters from Princess of Alexandria forward offer EX weapons for the featured character in their release draws. In the Japanese release, EX weapons can be evolved beyond maximum level to become even stronger with new passives. To promote this feature, release draws starting with Garland's event offer two featured EX weapons for boosted characters.

3-hit BRV+HP attack. Deals 50% splash damage to other enemies. Inflicts Explosion for 5 turns. Explosion steals a certain amount of BRV at the end of the turn.
Leon	Dark Stream ダークストリーム	Gaia Blade (II)
4-HIT Dark Element AoE Melee BRV + AoE HP Attack. Deals 100% HP Damage to all enemies. While Dark Knight is active and HP is above 80%, turns into Dark Stream+. Grants Dark Knight's Pride (Dark Knight's Pride grants Dark Element to all enemies' non-elemental BRV attacks and Dark Element Absorb to all allies.) while Dark Stream+ is active for 4 turns.

BRV hits are dispersed if there is more than one enemy. Grants 3 Sage stacks (max). Turns into Blade Torrent if Ninja or no stance is active.

It also turns BRV Attack to Light Slash.) and Divine Shield (Divine Shield raises all party members' Defense and recovers their BRV and HP (cannot overlap). It also turns HP Attack to Luminous Blast.) by 3 turns if active. Inflict Light Resistance Down for 4 turns on all enemies if LB2 Passive ability is learned.

2-hit AoE BRV+HP attack. Inflicts Ice Resistance Down for 4 turns. Grants Ice Enchant for 6 turns after Stardust's initial BRV+HP attack if LB2 Passive Ability is learned. Follows up with a 5-HIT AoE BRV+HP attack. Moderately increases BRV damage against a single target. HP damage is equally divided among all targets.
Rydia	Summon Dragon 召喚魔法ドラゴン	Mystic Whip (IV)
5-hit AoE BRV+HP attack. Ignores DEF. Moderately raises BRV damage dealt against a single target. Deals 100% HP damage to all enemies. Inflicts Water Resistance Down to all enemies for 4 turns. Grants Power to Overcome (Power to Overcome raises all party members' Max BRV and Attack.) for 6 turns if LB2 Passive Ability is learned.
Rosa	Luminous Arrow ルミナスアロー	Elven Bow (IV)
4-hit AoE ranged BRV attacks + single target HP attack. BRV stolen can overflow up to 120% of Max BRV. Moderately increases BRV damage if against a single target. Recovers BRV to all allies (excluding self) depending on HP damage dealt. On next turn, doesn’t consume own ability usage.

5-hit Dark AoE Magic BRV + AoE HP attack. Inflicts Dark Resistance Down to target for 4 turns, followed by another 5-hit Dark AoE magic BRV + AoE HP attack. BRV stolen can overflow up to 150% of Max BRV. Moderately increased BRV damage against a single target. HP damage dealt is split equally amongst targets. Grants 3 Stacks of [Shadow Dragon] to self.

BRV Attack will turn into Kotetsu, and HP Attack will turn into Genji Blade. Even after Ultimate Dance, Kotetsu and Genji Blade are used, they will not turn back to their initial states

7-HIT AoE magic BRV attack. Moderately raises BRV damage dealt to a single target. Raises all party members' BRV except for the character with the highest current BRV. Deals an AoE HP attack. HP damage is divided equally amongst all enemies. Extends the duration of existing self buffs by 1 turn. Grants Black Jack for 6 turns. Black Jack has the following effects: Slightly raises party Attack and Max BRV. Slightly raises self Attack and Max BRV. If MLB Passive Ability is learned, Turns HP Attack to HP Attack+ HP Attack+ has the following effects: Raises BRV based on Attack before inflicting an HP attack Raises BRV based on 30% of HP damage dealt

2-HIT BRV+HP attack. BRV stolen from the target can overflow up to 150% of Max BRV. Initiates a Chase Sequence. Grants Fever Time (Fever Time raises Critical Rate and BRV damage inflicted by critical hits.) for 3 turns. Extends the duration of Max BRV Up and The Zangan Way by 3 turns. Turns BRV Attack to BRV Attack+ while Fever Time is active. BRV Attack+ is a 3-HIT melee BRV attack.

6-hit AoE BRV+HP attack. BRV damage is spread among all targets. HP damage is divided equally between all targets. Grants Mako for 4 turns (6 if LB2 Passive Ability is learned). Mako raises Max BRV and grants BRV Regen.

Sephiroth	Black Materia ブラックマテリア	Mako Katana (VII)
Set all foes' BRV to 0 (except foes that are broken). Raises BRV based on ATK then inflicts an AoE HP attack. Deals 100% HP damage to all enemies. Grants 1 stack of Reunion for 5 turns (max is 5). Reunion raises Max BRV and regens BRV based on the number of stacks. Doesn't consume ability use on the next turn.

1-HIT BRV+HP attack repeated 7 times. The BRV+HP attacks are randomly dispersed if there are multiple targets. Delays targets by 1 turn after using Big Brawl (only once per target) if LB2 Passive Ability is learned.

6-HIT AoE BRV+HP attack. HP damage is divided equally amongst all enemies. Raises the total potency when an enemy is targeting the user. BRV can overflow up to 150% Max BRV. Provokes all enemies for 4 turns (Lock debuff). Grants BRV Barrier for 4 turns. BRV Barrier has the following effects: Nullifies BRV damage under 150% Initial BRV. If the incoming BRV damage is above that %, lowers BRV damage by that value. Dispelled if broken.

8-hit BRV+HP attack. Grants 1 stack of Lion Heart for 5 turns(2 stacks of Lion Heart for 8 turns if LB2 Passive Ability is learned). Lion Heart increases ATK and Max BRV based on the number of stacks. Lion Heart stacks cannot be increased by subsequent Assault Trigger uses.
Zell	Different Beat ディファレントビート	Ehrgeiz (VIII)
9-hit BRV+HP attack. BRV stolen can overflow up to 150% of Max BRV. Grants Duel to self for 6 turns. Afterwards, Normal BRV Attack/BRV Attack+ turns into Burning Combo, and Normal HP Attack/HP Attack+ turns in Meteor Combo. Burning Combo 4-hit melee BRV attack. 5-hit AoE BRV attack + AoE HP attack. Further increases BRV damage if against a single target. 100% HP damage dealt to all targets. Grants 4 stacks of Soul Cleave to self and Messenger of Destruction for 5 turns. Messenger of Destruction increases all allies' ATK and Speed. While active, Soul Cleave is not consumed when Ring Holy+ or Ultima+ is used.

Stolen BRV may exceed MAX BRV up to 150%. HP damage shared. Self: 3 turns Sworn General. Condition: when party buffs > 8.

Summons Valefor for 6 turns and triggers Energy Blast: 10-HIT AoE magic BRV attack + single target HP attack. Moderately raises BRV damage dealt to a single target. BRV stolen can overflow up to 150% Max BRV. Deals 50% HP damage to other targets. Grants Valefor's Blessing for 6 turns. While Valefor is active: Turns Grand Summon to Energy Blast. Turns BRV Attack to Sonic Wings. Turns HP Attack and HP Attack+ to Energy Ray. When Energy Blast is used, Valefor count is refreshed to 6 turns.

3-hit AoE BRV+HP attack. BRV damage is spread among all targets. HP damage is divided equally between all targets. Moderately increases BRV damage against a single target. Deals higher BRV damage against debuffed targets. Grants 1 stack of Seymour's Respite for 6 turns (max is 3) if LB2 Passive Ability is learned. Seymour's Respite increases Max BRV and Attack based on the number of stacks. It also allows Requiem's gained BRV to overflow. The overflow limit is determined by the number of stacks.

If a target is broken within 6 turns after use, invalidates action delay and grants a free turn that does not count towards the total turn count (except Summon Phase/Friend). If target is broken again with that free turn, no additional turns will be given.

6-hit AoE BRV+HP attack. Moderately raises BRV damage dealt against a single target. Greatly raises BRV damage dealt to enemies afflicted with Break. BRV stolen can overflow up to 120% Max BRV. 2-hit Holy BRV+HP attack. Inflicts Divine Malison debuff to the target for 2 turns (Fire, Thunder, Wind and Holy Resistance Down).
Prishe	Nullifying Dropkick 崑崙八象脚	Glanzfaust (XI)
4-hit DEF-ignoring BRV+HP attack. BRV stolen from the target can overflow up to 200% of Max BRV. Extends all buffs granted by self by 5 turns. Grants Medium Max BRV Up if the LB2 Passive Ability is learned.
Lion	Walk the Plank ウォークザープランク	Vajra (XI)
4-HIT Melee AoE BRV + AoE HP Attack. Increases BRV Damage against a single target by a medium amount. Allows for 120% Max BRV Overflow. HP Damage is split equally amongst all enemies. Dispels all buffs from all enemies. Recovers Usage Count of Sneak Attack by +1 (up to initial values). Turns to Walk the Plank (Light), which follows up with an additional 4-HIT ST Holy Magic BRV + ST HP Attack if previous turn was from an ally (or self).

Nullifies action delay and grants a free turn that does not count towards the total turn count (except during Summon Phase/Friend Support) if Tree of Sephira+ is active.

It also deals more damage if target is debuffed. Grants Oerba's Blessing for 5 turns after using Death (XIII) if LB2 Passive Ability is learned. Oerba's Blessing raises Attack and Speed and raises BRV damage dealt based on the number of debuffs on the target.
Lightning	Army of One シーンドライブ	Overture (XIII)
Army of One 1-hit BRV+HP attack. Followed by a 2-hit BRV+HP attack. Followed by another 2-hit BRV+HP. Raises BRV potency if the target is broken. Restores own HP based on total HP damage dealt for up to 10% Max HP. If the healing amount exceeds Max HP, the excess is converted to BRV. Doesn't consume ability use on the next turn. If the Ravager stance is active, Army of One turns to Army of One+. Delays the target by 1 turn. Delay increases to 2 turns if Army of One+ is active. Grants Knight of Etro for 3 turns. Knight of Etro grants Thunder Enchant and raises Max BRV and Attack. If Lightning breaks an enemy while Knight of Etro is active, nullifies action delay and grants a free turn that does not count towards the total turn count (except during Summon Phase/Friend Support).
