Alphinaud

Academician Sage
|
Yes
|
|
- Alphinaud's job is fixed based on the expansion the dungeon is from; he will always be an Academician in content prior to Endwalker, and a Sage in Endwalker content.
- In Heavensward and Stormblood dungeons, Alphinaud's Academician job is listed with the Arcanist icon, and acts as an All-Rounder discipline capable of serving as a Healer or Magical DPS. In Shadowbringers dungeons, Academician is listed with the Scholar icon, and Alphinaud can only serve the Healer role.
- As an Academician, Alphinaud summons a Carbuncle as his pet, regardless of role. While it lacks periodic healing, it will cast weak attack magic and can provide Damage Up buffs to party members. Alphinaud summons a normal Carbuncle in Sohm Al, Ruby Carbuncle in the Vault, and Obsidian Carbuncle from the Great Gubal Library to Castrum Abania. He summons Moonstone Carbuncle for Ala Mhigo and all Shadowbringers dungeons.
- As an Academician DPS, his skills are based on Arcanist skills before the Endwalker rework.
- As a Sage, he does not use Kardia, however his healing spells have a higher potency to compensate.
- Alphinaud will prioritize Alisaie's safety if they are grouped up. If she is not in the party, Alphinaud will instead prioritize the player.
- Very strong at healing critical HP.
- During the Funambulist's Fantasia mechanic in Dohn Mheg, Alphinaud will slowly walk through before nervously ("I'm not afraid... I'm not afraid...") running the rest of the way at the halfway point and takes a sigh of relief when finishing, preventing him from reaching the boss's barrier in time.
- During the Frostbite and Seek mechanic in Ktisis Hyperboreia, Alphinaud will note the tracks left by Lyssa and figure out where to go ("Footprints?), making it just in time to the dodge. During the second usage he will again note Lyssa's disappearance and follow the tracks to safety more quickly ("Vanished again... But again, it's left footprints.")
- Alphinaud's first outfit is his main Shadowbringers appearance, which he wears in all Shadowbringers duties bar Matoya's Relict and Paglth'an. This outfit is the default outfit for his Trust avatar.
- His second outfit is his Heavensward, Stormblood, and late Shadowbringers appearance. He wears this outfit in all of his Heavensward and Stormblood support appeances, Matoya's Relict and Paglth'an, and it is unlocked for his Trust avatar by leveling him up to 80.

|
Alisaie
|
Red Mage
|
Yes
|
|
- Alisaie will immediately use Limit Breaks when possible, including level 1, though she does tend to wait for level 2 on the final boss. In Endwalker, she receives a unique Level 2 Limit break based on the Resolution spell, with higher potency.
- Will heal and raise in emergencies, making her well balanced and reliable, but does not truly excel in any specific playstyle.
- Tends to slightly prioritize Alphinaud's safety if he is in the party, though not to the extent that he looks after her.
- If Alphinaud or the player are struggling with healing the party back up to full HP, she will attempt to heal more frequently until the party is back to healthy levels, signalled by ("I'll handle the healing!").
- During the Funambulist's Fantasia mechanic in Dohn Mheg, Alisaie will sprint the entire way ("Oh, come now. We know this is an illusion.").

- Her second outfit is her Heavensward, Stormblood, and late Shadowbringers appearance. She wears this outfit in all Stormblood support appeances, Matoya's Relict and Paglth'an, and it is unlocked for her Trust avatar by leveling her up to 80.
- Her third outfit is her Endwalker appearance. She wears this outfit in all Endwalker duties, and it is unlocked for her Trust avatar by leveling her up to 90.
|

|
Guard Captain
|
No
|
|

- Lyna has only one outfit for her single appearance in Holminster Switch.
|
Crystal Exarch/G'raha Tia
|
All-Rounder
|
Yes*
|
|
- Can be a Paladin, White Mage, or Black Mage depending on the desired role.
- Uses abilities available to the job he is using despite not being at the required level for them.
- As the Crystal Exarch, he is only playable in Scenario mode. After completing the quest Reflections in Crystal, G'raha Tia joins as an Avatar and starts at level 80.
- As a Paladin he is all-around good, effective against any type of encounter and AoE's often through his rotation. Will use Clemency on himself and others at low HP and uses Hallowed Ground in emergencies but otherwise relies on his high defense.
- Extremely aggressive as a White Mage, AoEs frequently and runs into groups to use Holy and stun them, making him very effective against a large number of enemies but can struggle healing critical HP.
- As a Black Mage he functions similar to Y'shtola, although G'raha sacrifices AoE damage for high single target damage and will not heal in emergencies. He will rarely use a Limit Break, as most other Scions are more likely to do it first and he defers to the player if they are a DPS.
- During the Funambulist's Fantasia mechanic in Dohn Mheg, G'raha Tia will run to the start of the rope and stop briefly to unsheathe his weapon ("I regret to disappoint, but I'm more than comfortable with heights!"), then sprint the entire way.
- During the Frostbite and Seek mechanic in Ktisis Hyperboreia, G'raha will first be shocked by Lyssa's disappearance and confuse it for the "Vanish" spell, but realizes the truth in time to get out of the way ("Is this...Vanish?...No, it couldn't be.") During the second usage, he will identify the safe spot quickly and run over, stretching while waiting for Lyssa to reappear ("If you would conceal yourself...You must really learn to cover your tracks.").
- During The Mothercrystal, G'raha will act as the off-tank to Thancred if the player is not a tank. If the player is a tank, G'raha will stay as a Black Mage with Thancred acting as the off-tank instead.
- G'raha Tia's first outfit is his initial appearance as the Crystal Exarch, which he wears in Holminster Switch. This outfit is unlocked by default for his Trust avatar.
- G'raha Tia's second outfit is his second appearance as the Crystal Exarch with his hood down, which he wears in the Grand Cosmos. This outfit is not available for his Trust avatar.
- His third outfit is his appearance as G'raha Tia from patch 5.3 onwards, and is used for all duties from Matoya's Relict onwards. This outfit is the default outfit for his Trust avatar.
- His fourth outfit is his winter wear appearance from Endwalker. This outfit is unlocked for his Trust avatar by leveling him up to 90.
|
Thancred
|
Gunbreaker Archon
|
Yes
|
|
- For duties prior to Shadowbringers, Thancred uses the Archon job, an All-Rounder discipline capable of serving as a Gladiator or Rogue depending on the required role. From Shadowbringers onward, Thancred uses the Gunbreaker job and can only serve the tank role.
- As a Gladiator, Thancred does not carry a shield, and thus does not use Shield Bash or Shield Lob in his rotation.
- As a Gunbreaker, Thancred will not use Cartridge-based skills in Shadowbringers dungeons unless Ryne (and later, Y'shtola or Urianger) is in the party, owing to his inability to charge cartridges on his own. This does not affect his performance significantly, as he uses alternate, but functionally identical, abilities in their place. In Endwalker he can use cartridge-based skills regardless of party setup.
- Very strong against bosses as he is able to sustain himself with self-healing and shields.
- Will conserve mitigation buffs, using them against tank busters and when at low HP, however if the player pulls enemies ahead of him, he will use his buffs more frequently and attempt to blind the mobs using Quick Slash, an AoE attack, signaled by ("Are you alright?!").
- If a party member is injured, Thancred will refrain from using Aurora on himself and instead use it on the party member on low HP, prioritizing the player and then healers.
- Frequently uses Heart of Light to increase the party's magic defense when an unavoidable enemy AoE is incoming.
- Uses Superbolide when near death.
- Focuses more on single target through his rotation, with higher self-sustain and utility compared to G'raha as a Paladin.
- During the Funambulist's Fantasia mechanic in Dohn Mheg, Thancred expresses mild annoyance ("This wouldn't fool a child.") before running part of the way and leaping across to the boss using Shukuchi ("Good thing I'm light on my feet.").
- During the Frostbite and Seek mechanic in Ktisis Hyperboreia, Thancred will be unimpressed by Lyssa's ability to use stealth, and quickly notes the footprints in the snow giving away its location before moving to safety. During the second usage, he is mildly impressed that Lyssa tries to confuse the party by wandering in stealth more, but notes that the same problem as before persists.
- During The Mothercrystal, Thancred acts as main tank while G'raha becomes off-tank. If the player is a tank, Thancred will be the off-tank, supporting the player with stack mechanics and buffs.
- Thancred's first outfit is his appearance from Shadowbringers onwards, which he wears in all duties. This outfit is the default outfit for his Trust avatar.
- His second outfit is his Heavensward and Stormblood appearance. This outfit is unlocked for his Trust avatar by leveling him up to 80. This outfit is also used fo his Duty Support appearances in the Antitower, though with different portraits depending on whther he is acting as a tank or DPS.
- His third outfit is his winter wear appearance from Endwalker. This outfit is unlocked for his Trust avatar by leveling him up to 90.
|
Minfilia/Ryne
|
Oracle of Light
|
Yes*
|
|
- Known as Minfilia in Dohn Mheg and the Qitana Ravel in the main scenario.
- Ryne is the only avatar with a basic class instead of a job, though this does not make her any less effective in combat than the rest.
- Has a low priority to use Limit Breaks and prioritizes fight mechanics and her own wellbeing, making her unlikely to use it in time or attempt it again. If the player is a DPS, she will not use Limit Breaks at all.
- For most encounters Ryne will initially use Vanish, approach the enemy, and use Trick Attack to lower her target's defense.
- Frequently uses Artful Edge to lower her target's attack.
- Ryne has access to the unique spell Banish to attack enemies out of her range, as a nod to her Oracle of Light powers in the story.
- During the Funambulist's Fantasia mechanic in Dohn Mheg, Ryne will nervously pause at the start ("W-We're supposed to cross this?") before tip-toeing through while pausing at certain points ("One step at a time...") and is unable to reach the boss's barrier in time.
- Ryne's Avatar can be used in Matoya's Relict and Paglth'an despite these duties occurring in the Source.
- Her Avatar's level is capped at 80 and she cannot be used in Endwalker dungeons.
- Ryne's first outfit is her appearance as Minfilia, which she uses in Dohn Mheg and the Qitana Ravel. This outfit is unlocked for her Trust avatar by leveling her up to 80, albeit with a different portrait.
- Her second outfit is her appearance after taking the name Ryne, as is used in all duties from Malikah's Well onwards. This outfit is the default outfit for her Trust avatar.
|
Urianger
|
Astrologian Lithomancer
|
Yes
|
|
- For The Mothercrystal, Urianger can switch to Lithomancer if the player's job is a healer. This is the only duty where he can change discipline.
- Lithomancer acts similarly to how Arcanists and Summoners behaved prior to their rework in Endwalker, with a persistent Topaz Carbuncle pet supplementing Urianger's own damage. Urianger is still capable of raising as a Lithomancer and will do so immediately if needed.
- Will occasionally use Gravity, an AoE damaging spell that also inflicts slow and heavy on enemies, making him effective against a large number of enemies. In Endwalker, Gravity has received a large damage buff and is used more frequently if the party is healthy, making him an effective damage dealer against all encounters.
- Urianger will, on occasion, cast Death on enemies to instantly defeat them. This does not extend to bosses, and will always target the enemy with the lowest HP. In Endwalker, he no longer uses Death and instead prioritizes using Gravity.
- Provides damage up buffs to the DPS in the party, generally favoring the player.
- During the Funambulist's Fantasia mechanic in Dohn Mheg, Urianger expresses mild amusement before teleporting across ("This shan't trouble us.").
- During the Frostbite and Seek mechanic in Ktisis Hyperboreia, Urianger will immediately realize what is happening and makes no hurry to get to safety, gliding away at the last second knowing he will dodge in time. During the second time he will be unimpressed the boss would repeat its tactics, which causes Urianger to repeat his own method to dodge.
- Urianger's first outfit is his appearance from Shadowbringers onwards, which he wears in all duties. This outfit is the default outfit for his Trust avatar.
- His second outfit is his A Realm Reborn, Heavensward, and Stormblood appearance. This outfit is unlocked for his Trust avatar by leveling him up to 80.
- His third outfit is the unmasked version of his outfit from when he was assisting the Warriors of Darkness in Heavensward, which he also wore as his winter wear in Endwalker. This outfit is unlocked for his Trust avatar by leveling him up to 90.
|
Y'shtola
|
Sorceress Archon
|
Yes
|
|
- For duties prior to Shadowbringers, Y'shtola uses the Archon job, a variant of Conjurer which serves as a DPS in Heavensward and a healer in Stormblood. From Shadowbringers onward, Y'shtola uses the Sorceress job, a variant of Black Mage.
- For The Fell Court of Troia and The Lunar Subterrane, Y'shtola can switch to a unique variant of Sorceress, that acts closer to Conjurer, if the player's job is not a healer. Outside of those duties, Y'shtola can only act as a DPS while using the Sorceress job.
- Y'shtola will cast offensive magic in set sequences, using visuals from both Thaumaturge/Black Mage and Conjurer/White Mage spells. Periodically in Shadowbringers onward, she will instead use Foul and then cast multiple Fire IV spells.
- Has some minor AoE splash damage through her spell rotation.
- Uses Cure of the Seventh Dawn to heal any party member at critical HP, albeit at a low frequency. If the entire party is at critical HP or that the healer is dead, she will heal more often. She cannot raise.
- If a party member dies or if she is at critical HP, she will use Manaward to shield herself, exclaiming ("Don't be so reckless.").
- If her Manaward shield is broken and she is outside of healing range while at critical HP, she will use Aetherial Manipulation to position herself next to the healer.
- As a healer, she attempts to strike a balance between healing and damage with high reaction times. If the party is healthy, she will switch to a rotation similar to her DPS behavior and is capable of using Flare for high AoE damage.
- During the Funambulist's Fantasia mechanic in Dohn Mheg, Y'shtola will simply briskly walk through as if there were no illusion ("An asinine trick.").
