FFXIV Durai Papers

Ramza bas Lexentale with a surviving copy of the Durai Papers in Final Fantasy XIV.

The Durai Papers (デュライ白書, Durai Hakusho?) is a chronicle of the true history of Ivalice during the period of the War of the Lions in Final Fantasy Tactics. It was written by Orran Durai to tell the story of Ramza Beoulve and his battles with the Lucavi demons. Orran originally intended to present the papers before the Clemensian Council during their voting for a High Confessor to replace the late Marcel Funebris.

The corrupt Church of Glabados, realizing that the book would expose them, labeled Orran as a heretic and had him executed. As a result, the Durai Papers, though completed, was never published. It was rediscovered centuries later by Orran's descendant, Arazlam, and was made public.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Orran's descendant, Arazlam Durai, also known by his stage name Jenomis cen Lexentale, discovered the Durai Papers and tried to translate the old language used to write the documents. He came to a conclusion that his ancestor Orran Durai tried to tell the story of Ramza Beoulve, the second hero who helped Delita Heiral on his path to become the king. The church branded Orran a heretic and burnt him alive. All the copies of Durai Papers were destroyed except for one copy that passed on to Arazlam centuries later.
