Normal: One groggy fiend. Fiends sleep too, but this one doesn't know when to call it quits. It wakes up to fight battles, but never really seems to reach Ochu standards.
Oversoul: A fiend that appreciates some good shut-eye. However, oversouling has dragged it screaming out of slumberland. Get ready for its full repertoire of spells and abilities.

The Drowsy Ochu is an enemy in Final Fantasy X-2.

Battle

It is a relatively powerful enemy when first encountered and is advised to not fight it the first few times due to how powerful it is. Later on in the game, it is of no threat. Keeping Lightning-resistant equipment helps neutralize its Thundara and Thundaga spells, while having Poison-resistant abilities nullifies its Poison abilities. It can also inflict Itchy.

Strategy

A quick way to dispose a Drowsy Ochu is to use Fire-elemental spells or Flametongue. Using Light Curtains helps lessen the damage it can do with its physical attack.

Fiend Tale

In the Fiend Tale endings, a notable Drowsy Ochu slept for a year. In his research on it, Shinra learns the Drowsy Ochu has a reoccurring dream of relaxing in the Calm Lands before being shot down by Yevon Monks.

Etymology

"Ochu" comes from Dungeons & Dragons; specifically, it is the otyugh. The name in Japanese (and transliterations) comes from the pronunciation; it is pronounced with a short O and T (practically to a ch), making the pronunciation close to "o-chuugh". "オチュー" is the closest the katakana system can get to representing the sound without using compound katakana pronunciations not natively found in Japanese.
