Drown is a Water-elemental spell that deals Water damage over time and lowers an enemy's Strength. It negates the Burn spell's effect and is negated by the Shock spell's effect. It can be stacked with Rasp, Frost, and Choke.
Final Fantasy XIV (version 1.0)[]
Drown was a rank 12 Conjurer spell during the initial release of version 1.0, costing 3 action points to set. The ability inflicted water-elemental damage over time and also reduced water magic defense to all enemies within an area of effect. After the release of patch 1.20, Drown; along with Drown II, became unusable by any class in the game.
In addition, an upgraded version called Drown II (ドラウンII, Doraun II?) also appeared as an ability. The spell could be learned by Conjurers at rank 36. The ability inflicted water-elemental damage over time at a higher potency and also reduced the water magic defense to all enemies within an area of effect.
After the release of patch 1.20, Drown and Drown II became unusable by any class.
