Water damage on all opponents
Description
Dragon Scales is a battle item item in Final Fantasy VII that deals heavy Water-elemental damage, and is one of the few sources of Water damage in the game. It is an especially strong battle item and worth procuring.

Mechanics[]
Using the Dragon Scales does not take the user's stats into account in determining damage. The final damage is calculated as :

The damage is then modified as per the enemy's resistance to Water-elemental damage; i.e. double if the enemy is weak to Water, half of they resist, 0 if they nullify Water, or healing if they absorb Water.
Battle items bypass target's Reflect status.

Dragon Scales is the strongest offensive item in the game, dealing upwards to 3600 damage to all enemies, assuming they do not absorb, nullify, or resist Water-elemental damage. It can also be obtained rather early in the game where the player cannot yet hit those high numbers, so it is advised to try to win some to use for boss fights by utilizing Death Sentence against the Adamantaimai. It is also especially useful in the Battle Square and in challenge runs.
