Dragon claws are a weapon for Tifa in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. The weapon provides the Starshower ability, an extremely strong move that deals good damage and boosts damage from the next attack. The weapon has balanced stats, more weighted to physical damage than magic damage.
Obtained[]
Dragon claws are won in the Desert Rush minigame in the Dustbowl, visited in chapter 8, "All That Glitters". The player must earn 42,000 points from completing the minigame. Because Starshower is such a crucial ability in Tifa's moveset, it is vitally important to obtain the weapon.

Use[]
Dragon claws provide the second-highest Attack Power boost of all Tifa's weapons, but only a modest
Magic Attack boost. The weapon skills at later levels make the weapon a strong choice, particularly ATB Charge Rate Up and Weapon Ability ATB Recovery that play to Tifa's strengths of performing many ATB attacks in quick succession, while also including up to two Martial Arts Mastery and an Enhanced Techniques.
The big drawback to the weapon is it has very slow materia slot growth. This means sacrificing materia slots at lower weapon levels, which can make the weapon much less appealing. Additionally, its attack power boost is weaker than Kaiser Knuckles, and Járngreipr grants a better critical hit rate. Ultimately, the weapon skills for dragon claws still make it a very solid choice later in the game, but early on, the best use of the weapon is to learn Starshower.
Dragon claws can be effective as Tifa's main weapon later on, as a strong physical damage weapon with useful weapon skills, but without too much of a sacrifice to magic attack damage. Leather Gloves and Sylph Gloves also provide alternatives for balanced, magic damage-based weapons for her.
Etymology[]
Tifa also has a another weapon called Tiger Fangs. In East Asian cultures, the dragon and the tiger are considered eternal rivals. Various artworks depict the two fighting an epic battle, the dragon representative of things of Yang polarity and spirit, with the tiger representative of things of Yin polarity and matter. Ultimately, they represent the inevitable reconciliation of opposing but equal forces. The dragon is a creature of the skies, whereas the tiger is considered the king of all terrestrial beasts, and their bouts always end in a draw.
In the context of Eastern and Asian martial arts, the dragon represents the aspects of soft style and internal martial arts, focusing on accuracy, mental alertness, and fluid reactivity. The tiger represents the aspects of hard style and external martial arts, focusing on explosive speed, raw strength, and countering an opposing force with one's own. In martial arts fiction and fantasy, internal based martial arts are often seen with abilities centered on chi energy and spiritual powers, while external martial arts are depicted with unparalleled physical proportions, with the most reputable martial arts being able to harmonize and utilize both aspects as one force.
