Doom of the Living in Final Fantasy VII.
Doom of the Living (生者必滅, Shōja Hitsumetsu?, lit. Death of the Living), also known as Inexorable End and Blade: Metsu, is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is frequently a Limit Break used by Yuffie Kisaragi.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy VII[]
Doom of the Living is the second Limit Level 3 ability for Yuffie, obtained after using Gauntlet 6 times. It deals non-elemental physical damage 15 times to random enemies at 5⁄8 times normal damage.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth[]
Inexorable End is Yuffie's Level 2 Limit command, available as soon as she is playable. Yuffie must currently have a limit level increase buff to use the attack.

Final Fantasy XI[]
Blade: Metsu is a one-handed Katana weapon skill exclusively usable by Ninjas who are wielding one of the three special weapons: the Relic Weapon Kikoku, Kikoku's prior stage the Yoshimitsu (and then only in Dynamis), or the Sekirei. In the case of the Sekirei, 13 other weapon skills must be performed before Blade: Metsu may be performed once. If using the Kikoku or Yoshimitsu, performing the weapon skill gives Aftermath of Subtle Blow +10 as well as Attack +10% if the Kikoku has been fully upgraded.
The actual weapon skill itself has an 80% DEX modifier with TP 5.0 and a chance to inflict Paralysis on the target. Although the animation shows 4 hits and then a violet and black explosion, the weapon skill is treated as only being one hit.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Doom of the Living is the level 3 Limit Break of the Samurai job. When used, the samurai makes a single attack with attack power of 9000.

Doom of the Living is a Soul Break taught to Yuffie by her Spiral Shuriken. It has no Charge Time and makes 6 consecutive long-distance physical attacks of water and non-elemental elements against all enemies. The enemies struck have their elemental defense against water lowered and Yuffie gains resistance to water for a time; Yuffie also gains Haste and enters Burst Mode.

Etymology[]
The name of this ability is a reference to Buddhism. The term is found in the Daihatsu nehankyō shūge (大般涅槃経集解, lit. Commentaries on sutras), a commentary on the Nirvana Sutra and refers to the ephemeral nature of life.
