Doom is a status in Final Fantasy IX. Doom's countdown starts at 10, and kills the target when it hits zero. Stop will halt the countdown. Doom is especially hazardous as the status ticks during battle animations, not leaving the player much time to react to it, but for the same reason is great for the player to use: it is especially good for defeating Yans. Doom is similar in effect with Gradual Petrify.
Mechanics[]
The rate the timer expires is determined by the target's Spirit stat, the target's current status (Haste, Slow, or none), and the Battle Speed setting. Doom is worsened by having high Spirit as the ticker counts down faster, though usually Spirit has positive effects.
- Duration: (60 - Spirit) * 200
If Zidane is condemned, and the player uses Flee the moment he is going to die from it, he will still use the ability even though he is KO'd, sending the other members to safety.
