FFXIV Divine Benison

Divine Benison in Final Fantasy XIV.

Divine Benison (ディヴァインベニゾン, Divain Benizon? or ディバインベニゾン, Dibain Benizon?) is a recurring White Mage ability in the series. It has no recurring effect.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy XI[]

Divine Benison is a job trait available only to White Mages, it decreases the casting time and recast time of status recovery magic, with the potency of the effects based on the level of the trait. Divine Benison I, II, III, IV, and V are learned at White Mage levels 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90, respectively.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Divine Benison is a White Mage ability learned at level 66. As of the recent Shadowbringers expansion, the ability creates a barrier on the targeted party member that absorbs damage equivalent to a heal of 500 potency for a period of 15 seconds or until the barrier is depleted. It has an instant cast time and has a recast of 30 seconds by default.

Originally at the launch of the Stormblood expansion the ability served as a replacement for the Stoneskin line of abilities that the job had before the release, granting a simple barrier that only absorbed damage totaling to 15% of the target's maximum HP. Divine Benison could only be executed if the user had at least one Lily on the user's Healing Gauge. Depending on the number of Lilies present on the user's healing gauge at the time of casting, the recast time of the ability could be lowered by between 4% to 20%. The lily requirements were removed at the launch of Patch 4.1, with the lilies simply lowering the recast timer of the ability. Due to the overhaul of the lily system in 5.0 brought from player critique of the system, Divine Benison was changed at the expansion's launch to no longer consume lilies when used.
