Description

Divekick is an ATB ability for Tifa in Final Fantasy VII Remake, provided to her by the Leather Gloves. Tifa jumps into the air, spins, and slams down with her feet, kicking the ground, dealing strong physical damage and has a wide area-of-effect.

Obtained

Divekick is provided by the Leather Gloves. It can be permanently learned by using the ability with the Leather Gloves equipped in a way that finishes off an enemy.

Use

A unique ability attacked to Tifa's Leather Gloves. A powerful kick that deals heavy damage to an opponent. One of the most basic moves in the Zangan-style combat.

Divekick is a powerful ability due to its strong burst damage and its area-of-effect. It is effective both at clearing out enemies that cluster together, as well as larger enemies who are staggered. Because it deals physical damage, Divekick relies on Tifa's Attack Power, though her high Speed allows her to charge it up quickly and thus use it in combos with other abilities.

A great use for Divekick is in a combo with Whirling Uppercut, Tifa's default ability. After performing Whirling Uppercut, Tifa will be airborne, and will have limited options. She can combo this into a Divekick, and would gain ATB, increase stagger damage, and deal more total damage in a similar amount of time by splitting a part of its animation with her Whirling Uppercut special.

Divekick is versatile and can be applied generally to various situations. However, unlike Tifa's other abilities, it does not come with any unique effects; e.g. Starshower grants more damage to her next attack. Though her other abilities can be used for their various effects in addition to damage, Divekick remains one of Tifa's best abilities for dealing quick burst damage. Divekick is similar to Cloud's Braver, with similar range and tracking. Although it is weaker, it can be used more frequently and she can combo into it more effectively, thanks to Tifa's high speed and her ability to split its windup animation with Whirling Uppercut.
