Description
Dispel is an indirect magic spell in Final Fantasy VIII. The spell removes positive status effects from a target. It can also be junctioned to boost stats.
Dispel is the opposite of Esuna, which removes negative status effects.
Obtained
Dispel can be drawn from a few enemies. It can also be refined from common items using the Guardian Force Leviathan's ability Supt Mag-RF. Saw Blade, obtained from Belhelmel, is the best item to refine Dispel from, as it can be refined into 20 Dispels.
Stats
Use
Dispel removes positive status effects on a target, making it an offensive spell. It can be cast using the Magic command, Selphie's Slot Limit Break, or Rinoa's Angel Wing. Casting Dispel in battle increases compatibility with Cerberus by 0.2, but lowers compatibility with Carbuncle by 1.2, with Siren by 0.8, with Diablos by 0.4 and with Eden by 0.2.
Dispel can also be junctioned to boost stats, particularly Spirit and Vitality. It can also be junctioned to ST-Def-J to reduce Drain damage.
Dispel can be used by Edea against the party.
