Discharge (放電, Hōden?, lit. Electric Discharge), also known as Electric Burst, Electric Discharge, or Shock, is a recurring enemy ability in the Final Fantasy series. It is often a Lightning-elemental attack.

Discharge is an enemy ability used by Battery Mimic which inflicts Lightning-elemental damage to one party member within a range of 3 and an area of 6 with a power of 13, CT of 3, and Knockback of 200.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
Shock is an enemy action that first appears in the King Behemoth encounter in The Labyrinth of the Ancients. It is used by the Allagan Energy Towers surrounding the arena. As the encounter progresses the Towers will absorb energy from the electrified floor, indicated by their three blue rings turning red. If all rings turn red, the Tower will use shortly after use Shock to inflict 1500 fixed damage to the entire raid. To avoid this players can interact with the Towers to disperse their energy with a weaker Shock, instead dealing a fixed 300 damage per active ring only to players in direct vicinity of the Tower.
Another Shock used by the Thunderballs summoned by Barnabas in The Tower of Babil, dealing damage to nearby enemies.
