Description

Disable is a status in Final Fantasy XII. Disabled units cannot take action, nor take part in Quickenings, but can still move. Its movement counterpart is Immobilize. In Zodiac re-releases, Disable was added as a trait to many spear-type weapons.

The formula for the duration is:

Abilities[]

Spell Disable (Time Magicks)
Weapon Dragon Whisker 15% (Zodiac), Gungnir 10% (Zodiac), Orochi 10%, Sledgehammer 20%, Stone Bolts 25%, Vrsabha 50%, Zodiac Spear 20% (Zodiac)

Disable spell's efficacy depends on various stats possible Faith on caster and Shell on caster, but can be made to always work on targets that are not outright immune when the caster equips the Indigo Pendant.

The player can also inflict Disable with items designed to heal it with the Nihopalaoa equipped.

The ally-targeting gambit specifically for this status is called "Ally: status = Disable". In the original version, the gambit can be bought for 50 gil after the events at Draklor Laboratory. The enemy-targeting gambit is "Foe: status = Disable", available for 50 gil after leaving Nalbina Dungeons. In the Zodiac versions, the gambits can be purchased for 70 gil after leaving the dungeons.

Use[]

Disable is useful in making enemies unable to act and get into the player's way, such as the Shambling Corpses that flank Adrammelech, and Ba'Gamnan's siblings. It can be good against the high level Abysteels in the back entrance to Henne Mines from Feywood, or in the depths for level grinding purposes. It could also come in use against Etém in the optional part of Henne Mines. Disable can be especially useful in New Game Minus.
