Description
The Diamond Gloves are mid game gauntlets in Final Fantasy IX for Steiner and Freya. They teach Ability Up, which allows the character to master abilities faster, and Jelly, which immunizes against Petrify. The Diamond Gloves nullify Water damage to the wearer.

Abandoned Beach chocograph.
The Diamond Gloves are first found in the "Abandoned Beach" chocograph. Before going through Fossil Roo to the Outer Continent, the player should play Chocobo Hot and Cold until they have "Abandoned Beach", though it is best to simply play to the point Mene says there are no more chocographs to be found in Chocobo's Forest. After getting to the Outer Continent, the player can call Choco from the local chocobo foot prints with a Gysahl Green and dig around the beach near to Dead Forest.
The Diamond Gloves can also be purchased for 2000 gil from Oeilvert, Desert Palace, and Esto Gaza after the events in Desert Palace. All of these locations eventually become unavailable to revisit.
Mechanics[]
The Diamond Gloves provide 19 physical Evasion and 13 Magic Evasion, improving the wearer's chance to avoid damage. The gloves nullify Water damage to the wearer.
Use[]
The Diamond Gloves are the best gauntlets for Steiner and Freya after the party meets up with them when they return from the Outer Continent. They are the best gloves for world map exploration on the Blue Narciss until the player advances in the Chocobo Hot and Cold quest to the point Choco is dark blue and they can find the Genji Gloves with a Dead Pepper. If the player is not prioritizing the chocobo quest, then the next best gauntlet is the Venetia Shield found in Desert Palace.
The abilities Ability Up and Jelly are good to master to everyone. The Water-nullifying effect can come to use against the boss from mastering frog catching.
Beatrix can also wear the Diamond Gloves for the brief portion she is a guest during the Battle of Alexandria, but the player should not give them to her as she will leave the party.
