Developer's Office (開発室, Kaihatsu Shitsu?), also known as Developer's Room or Dev. Team Office, is a recurring secret location in games set in the Final Fantasy IV universe.
The Developer's Office is populated by named sprites, some custom and recolored, that represent the game's development team. They offer information on their role in the game's development, and some engage the party in special scripted battles. A recurring theme is that the implied pornographic magazine "Lustful Lali-ho" can be used for some unorthodox mini-quest in the Developer's Office.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy IV[]
In the 2D versions, the Developer's Office is located in the pub in the Dwarven Castle through a hidden passage marked by a cracked floor tile. It is not available in the Easy Type, English SNES, and Pixel Remaster releases.
In the 3D versions, the Developer's Office is in the same location as in other releases, but its members are changed, being made up of the staff of the remake instead of the original release.
Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-[]
The Developer's Office has no entrance. The player must speak to a Hummingway on Floor B10 of the Tower of Babil and it will teleport the party to the Developer's Office and back. The office is populated by the staff members of the Final Fantasy IV: The Complete Collection release.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]
The entrance to the old Developer's Office in the Dwarven Castle is closed, with a sign next to it. In Rydia's and Edge's Tales, the sign says the developers have moved and their location will be posted later, but in Porom's Tale, the sign instead asks people not to come looking for them. In the 3D version of the game, this has been cut out.
The entrance to the new Developer's Office is on the True Moon, at the Tail Collector's room marked as "???", only accessible via the dimensional elevator after clearing the Subterrane. The entrance to the office is through a hidden wall to the left of the bed in the area's back room.
Final Fantasy XIV[]
The Developer's Office, called "The Eighteenth Floor" is featured in The Rising 2015 event. The room's base model is a copy of The Rising Stones. It is accessed during the quest "A World Away" and can subsequently be accessed by talking to the Wandering Minstrel.
Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light[]
The Developer's Room can be found in Liberte and is accessed by using a Dragon Wing during nighttime after saving the game at Liberte's northern side. The "room" is more of a whole area with the NPCs being replaced with the staff of the game.
As the player cannot leave (or enter normally) the northern side of Liberte during the night, the only way to leave is by resting up at the inn or in Jusqua and Aire's house.
Final Fantasy Dimensions[]
The entrance to the Developers' Room is in Harmonia inside a house with an open door.
