Desperado (デスペラード, Desuperādo?), also known as Cold Blood, is a recurring ability in Final Fantasy series usually associated with gunners.

Final Fantasy VIII[]

Main article: Desperado (Final Fantasy VIII)

Desperado is Laguna's Limit Break. He pulls the pin of a hand-grenade and tosses it into the middle of his opponents, then shoots a grappling hook above and, as he swings from side to side on his grapple, fires multiple rounds with his machine gun down upon his enemies. He jumps off the rope and lands with his back towards the foes as the grenade explodes, dealing massive damage to all enemies. It has a base attack power of 140.

Final Fantasy X[]

Desperado is an enemy ability of Mortibody, which deals moderate non-elemental damage to the party as well as removes NulAll, Shell, Protect, Reflect, Haste, and Regen. It is the only time in the series when it is not a Limit Break.

Cold Blood (Desperado in Japanese) is Sazh's Full ATB skill. It is accessible via the Ravager role. When using Cold Blood, Sazh shoots the target 17 times to increase its chain gauge.

If Sazh has the synthesized ability Random: Instant Chain equipped, Cold Blood grants him 17 chances to trigger it.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

Cold Blood is Sazh's Feral Link and becomes available after the completion of the "Sazh's Story: Heads or Tails?" downloadable scenario. As in Final Fantasy XIII, Cold Blood increases the enemy's chain gauge. The boost that it provides is situational.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Desperado is a level 2 Limit Break for ranged DPS classes. It was introduced in Heavensward (3.0).

Menu description of Laguna's EX Burst

Desperado is Laguna's EX Burst. He blasts his opponent with a rocket launcher, then throws a grenade at them and leaps into the air swinging on a rope while attacking with his machine gun. The player must hold R and keep the crosshair centered on the opponent, landing hits as a damage meter fills up. Filling the meter will have Laguna end the EX Burst with Ultimate Ragnarok Cannon, where he calls all of his weapons together to concentrate energy and fire a large laser blast at the opponent, with the earlier grenade exploding to deal HP damage.

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius[]

Cold Blood is an ability exclusive to Sazh while equipped with the Hyades Magnums. It costs 45 MP and deals 6 hits of physical damage with a modifier of 1.4x that ignores 25% DEF to one enemy.

Cold Blood (Loving Father Sazh) is an ability usable by Loving Father Sazh after using Paradigm Shift: Ravager. It costs 30 LB, deals 30 hits of physical damage with a modifier of 800x to one enemy, and enables Cold Blood (Loving Father Sazh) for 1 turn with tag chaining. It uses the Aureole Ray chaining family.

Desperado is the Limit Burst for Laguna. When at max rarity and fully powered, it deals 27 hits of Water physical damage with a modifier of 130x, reduces gun resistance by 25% for 3 turns, reduces DEF/SPR by 87% for 3 turns, and reduces Water and Light resistance by 140% for 3 turns to all enemies. It uses the Bolting Strike (Walk) chaining family.

Cold Blood is also the Limit Burst for Sazh. When at max rarity and fully powered, it deals 13 hits of physical damage with a modifier of 3.45x to all enemies.

Final Fantasy Trading Card Game[]

Desperado is the ability of 1-058L Laguna. It costs 2 Ice CP and dulls 1 Forward as well as deals 9000 damage to that Forward.

One of Sazh's cards can use Cold Blood for the discard of a Sazh card, dulling Sazh, and paying eight Light CP. The ability allows the player to choose up to three Forwards and deal them 17,000 total damage in increments of 1,000, with the player dividing up the damage however they choose.
