Gravity-based attack. HP at 1/4Description
Demi3 is an attack magic spell in Final Fantasy VII. It is granted by the Fire Materia at level one, and is the strongest Gravity-elemental spell above Demi and Demi2. It will reduce an enemy's current HP by 75%.
|Magic Materia||Gravity, Master Magic|
|Effect||Gravity-elemental damage equal to 50% of target's current HP. Cannot be reflected.|
|Compatible Support Materia||Added Cut, All, Final Attack, HP Absorb, Magic Counter, MP Absorb, MP Turbo, Quadra Magic, Sneak Attack, Steal as Well|
Demi3 deals fractional damage, and reduces the target's current HP by 75%, provided they have no resistance or immunity to the Gravity element.
Demi3 can be used by characters with the Gravity Materia at level 3, and will reduce an enemy's HP by 75%. This means its damage is unaffected by the user's Magic stat and is based entirely on the enemy's current HP and their resistance to Gravity damage. It has a very high MP cost at 48, and cannot be reflected.
Demi3 is an efficient source of damage a variety of circumstances, but should be used sparingly due to its high MP cost. It is best used when paired with Support Materia. If paired with All or Mega All, it can reduce a group of enemies' HP to a quarter, crippling them and setting them up for a follow-up attack that can easily wipe a wave. Against some larger enemies that are not immune to Gravity, pairing it with Added Cut means that it could set them up for a strong physical attack from a character such as Cloud, Barret, Tifa, or Cid after the first attack greatly reduced their HP.
In most cases, Demi3 is inefficient due to its high MP cost, and because most larger enemies are immune to Gravity. Though Emerald Weapon is a notable exception, Demi3 will deal the same damage against it as the base Demi spell due to the 9999 damage limit.
