The Defender (守護騎士, Shugo Kishi?, lit. Guardian Knight), abbreviated as DEF, is a recurring job that appears in several Ivalice games in the series.
Like their name implies, they are traditionally hired as escorts due to their great endurance in engagements. Defenders have potent close range attacks like Mow Down and Tremor and self-healing and damage prevention abilities such as Aura and Bulwark.
