SOLDIER operators born from inhumane experimentation in a mad pursuit of power. They are confined to Shinra's top secret underground research facility, Deepground.
Enemy Intel
Deepground SOLDIER is an enemy in Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, in the "Episode INTERmission" DLC. They are based on the DG Soldier enemies fought in Dirge of Cerberus -Final Fantasy VII-, and are soldiers from Shinra Electric Power Company's secretive Deepground experimental elite force. Scarlet deploys them onto Yuffie and Sonon after the ninjas best her new war machine in combat. The party needs to defeat three Deepground SOLDIERs during "A New Threat".
Stats[]
Being a DLC-exclusive enemy, the stats are not listed in the official guide book, and thus are unknown.
Battle[]
Deepground SOLDIERs are elite combatants whose abilities surpass those of the normal Shinra infantry. They're equipped with shotguns capable of shooting magical shells, Pyroshot and Cryoshot, which are essentially Fira and Blizzara, respectively, but without a lengthy cast time. They can phase in and out of combat using their Tactical Cloaks, becoming invisible and temporarily untargetable. If attacked directly with melee attacks, they will counter after taking a certain amount of damage, and slam their attacker on the ground.
Much like most of the human enemies, the Deepground SOLDIERS are weak to Fire.
Strategy[]
As soon the battle starts, Yuffie can use Fire Ninjutsu to attack them dealing double damage. Given their melee counters, they're best dealt with through ranged attacks. To avoid Sonon getting countered, he is best kept Synergized with Yuffie, who in turn can attack with ranged ninjutsu and Throw. Synergized Windstorm can be effective when available.
If the Deepground SOLDIERs use their Tactical Cloak while Yuffie's weapon is latched on them from using Throw, it'll return to her. Attacking them right when they phase back in pressures them. Magnify Materia paired with Fire Materia is effective against the group of them. Fiery Banishment is also good.
Hard Mode[]
On the hard difficulty, the Deepground SOLDIERs are far more aggressive, using their counter sooner when taking melee damage. While the player can nuke them with spells, it's best off conserving MP for the final boss.
