Death Rider is an enemy in Final Fantasy VI fought at the Dragons' Den, a dungeon exclusive to the Advance and the 2014 version. It is the game's take on the Final Fantasy II enemy of the same name.

Stats[]

Battle[]

Like his three palette swap counterparts, Death Rider attacks the party alone. Unlike his fellow "riders", Death Rider lacks a lance attack; Hell's Rider has Silver Lance, Test Rider has Golden Lance, and Dante has Crystal Lance.

The Death Rider may use Pox, Death, or Blaster on his first turn. He can user Metal Cutter, Poltergeist, or Freezing Dust on his second turn, and then Hyperdrive on his third turn. The Death Rider will counter all damage with two Pox attacks; though not overwhelmingly powerful, the constant double-retaliation strikes do add up quickly.

Strategy[]

It is recommended to have someone on standby to heal. Using strong attacks, such as Firaga, Flare, and Ultima, or simply having invisible, will help with dealing with this enemy. Being undead, reviving spells such as Raise, can instantly defeat the rider.
