Death Gigas is the Level 2 Limit Break for Vincent in Final Fantasy VII. Unlike most other party members, Vincent only has one Limit per Limit Level, but each transformation has two attacks. Transforming makes him stronger and fully restores him, but the downside is that he becomes uncontrollable. Death Gigas transforms Vincent into a Frankenstein's monster-style giant that has a lightning attack at his disposal.

Obtained[]

Death Gigas is acquired when Vincent's kills 40 enemies. A good grinding location is the forest in Nibel Area after Mt. Nibel where as many as six enemies (Battery Cap) can appear in a formation. Vincent can easily wipe out groups of them with multi-targeting E.Skills. The area is available very soon after Vincent can be recruited.

Use[]

Transforming into Death Gigas increases Vincent's Defense by 50%, but decreases his MDefense by 70%, and Dexterity by 20%. His Max HP doubles. While in Death Gigas form, Vincent will attack with either Gigadunk or Livewire, and cannot be controlled. He stays that way until the battle is over, or he falls into Death status. During his transformation, Vincent is immune to Berserk, Frog, and Confusion. The offensive properties of Elemental or Added Effect do not carry over to his Death Gigas form, but defensive Materia set-ups continue to work. Vincent's Limit Break forms behave oddly under All Lucky 7s since he seems to revert to using his gun though there is no animation for it.

Gigadunk.
Livewire.

Gigadunk (top) and Livewire (bottom).

Gigadunk is a physical attack for 258 times normal damage to a single target. Vincent will use this attack 70% of the time.

Livewire inflicts Lightning-elemental magic damage to all enemies equal to 438 times normal damage. He will use Livewire 30% of the time.

As there is no way to control Vincent during his Death Gigas form, the player must not use it against an enemy who absorbs Lightning damage. It is, however, great against enemies that are weak to Lightning, such as Carry Armor. As opposed to simply dealing damage, the player can also use Vincent's Limits to heal him, and Death Gigas also doubles his max health.

None of Vincent's Limit Break transformations have victory poses, and will continue to use their battle animation after a victory.

Gigas is a Greek word meaning "giant", originally used to describe the race of Gigantes in Greek mythology and is used in the scientific name, as the specific epithet, of hundreds of species of animals and dozens of plant species to denote their size.
