Makes any one ally immune to death.Description
Death Force is a protective spell found exclusively in Final Fantasy VII. It is an enemy skill used by Adamantaimai and can be learned on the Enemy Skill Materia for the player to use. It is a useful spell to learn.
If obtaining all enemy skills the earliest they are available, Death Force is the fourteenth spell learned on the Materia (following Trine). It is learned from Adamantaimai on the Wutai Area beaches, first accessible once the player acquires the Tiny Bronco. The player must use Manipulate to learn it, as Adamantaimai will never use it on the player party otherwise.
|Command Materia||Enemy Skill Materia|
|Effect||Grants Death Force status to one target, making them immune to Instant Death.|
Death Force inflicts status of the same name to a single target, giving protection from Instant Death until the end of battle. (Death Force does not protect the player against the Death Joker Limit Break.) Death Force only works on one person per caster. For example, if only one party member has learned Death Force, and used it on themselves and then casts it on another party member, they will lose their death immunity status. Therefore, to maximize the use of Death Force, all three party members must have learned it.
Death Force is useful against Tonberries on the Battle Square to avoid their close-range instant death attack. On the Battle Square, statuses last throughout the rounds so the player can cast Death Force in the first round and have the protection for the entire gauntlet. This way, it doesn't matter as much if the player's Command Materia break before the Tonberry round comes up.
Death Force is also useful if equipping the Curse Ring, which inflicts Death-sentence to the user while greatly boosting stats. This is a good accessory for Tifa with her Master Fist and Powersoul weapons that boost her power when under status abnormalities, but if she is in a danger of dying in a longer battle, such as boss battles, the player can use Death Force on her.
Death Force is also useful against enemies' level-based instant death moves, like Gargoyles' L4 Death and Parasites' L5 Death, which is also learnable as an enemy skill. It can be used to protect against the effects of Roulette when trying to learn it as well.
