The Death Eye has a chance of dropping an Elixir upon death, making it a vital find in various parts of the Chaos Shrine. Using Dia or Fire can dispose of these enemies easily due to its small HP total of 360.

- Much like the Evil Eye, in the game's original Japanese release the Death Eye, then named Death Beholder (デスビホルダー, Desu Behorudā?), so resembled the Beholders from Dungeons & Dragons that Nintendo, who distributed the NES version of the original Final Fantasy, redesigned the shared sprite between the two monsters before bringing the game to the US.
