Darkness is an ability type in Final Fantasy Record Keeper, and part of the Other category.
Mechanics[]
The Darkness school centers on attacking enemies with Dark-elemental attacks. Many have effects centering on the Doom status, such as inflicting it on the user for a stat boost, decreasing the Doom's countdown timer, or dealing more damage if the user is under Doom status. Many Darkness abilities come in physical and magical variants, and Mark of Darkness is the first ability to deal "Hybrid" damage, where it counts as physical if the user's ATK is higher than their MAG, and magical damage if the reverse is true. All Dark abilities deal Dark-elemental damage, and it is a trend for Darkness abilities to be usable by villainous characters, though some heroic characters can also use Darkness.
Notable abilities in the Darkness school include: Death Throes and Memento Mori, which inflict Doom on the user and raise their ATK or MAG, respectively; Dwindling Fear and Necrofear, which deal more hits if the user's Doom timer is below a certain threshold; Sanguine Cross and Crimson Cross, which deal four hits and damage the user; and Dark Zone and Reaping Scythe, which deal four hits and have higher power if the user is under Doom.
