FFVIII Dark Flare

Dark Flare in Final Fantasy VIII.

Dark Flare (ダークフレア, Dāku Furea?) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy V[]

Dark Flare is level 5 spell usable by the Necromancer class. It costs 52 MP, its base power is 200, and it cuts through the enemy's Magic Defense. Dark Flare is learned from Exdeath's Soul and Tonberry.

Final Fantasy VIII[]

Dark Flare is the version of Mega Flare cast by the boss Tiamat. It takes some turns to charge, but deals tremendous Fire elemental damage to the party. Raising elemental resistance against fire via junctioning Fire and/or Flare to Elem-Def can allow the party to fully absorb the attack, making the battle a sure win as Tiamat doesn't have any other attacks.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Dark Flare is a special ability used by Lilith Ascendant. It's similar to the related ancient spell, but is directed in a fan-shaped area of effect at players.
