Dario Hourne is a playable character in War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. Known as the Disquieted Scholar, Dario is the first prince of the Kingdom of Hourne and has a significant prowess in the spellblade. He despises war and refuses to step onto the battlefield. He is the elder brother of Machérie Hourne and the son of Robb Hourne.

Profile[]

Appearance[]

Dario is a handsome young man with shoulder-length blond hair and blue eyes. He wears a white suit trimmed with gold linings. He wears pieces of armor by his left shoulder and his waist, a pink scarf at his waist and a flowing red cape and black shoes. He carries his long blade on a holster.

Personality[]

Dario seems meek but is very internally driven. He abhors fighting and refuses to engage in it despite having the prowess. Becoming the king of Hourne is something he wishes to avoid as that would force him to fight. Dario holds a tender spot for Vinera, having fallen in love with her upon their meeting. He is a loyal and loving husband, even continuing to wish for Vinera's well-being on his own deathbed. Though frail, Dario is hopeful about his future and regrets at Machérie Hourne being forced to fulfill his family's political aspirations.

Story[]

Early life[]

Dario is King Robb and the Queen of Hourne's first-born son and the first prince of Hourne. After Princess Machérie was born, Dario felt burdened in his role. Although possessing a gift for combat, Dario shirked from his duties as a royal due to his frailty, leading to Machérie having to marry Muraga, something which Dario regrets having to put her through due to his inaction. Dario, meanwhile, was wed to Muraga's daughter, Vinera. He found love and cherished his wife.

To Burn with Life[]

Ep. 3: Traitors I[]

With the plot to assassinate Dario coming into fruition, Doluza and a Fennes shinobi confront Vinera and Dario. Tyrrell runs in, wondering why they're attacking Vinera, with a shinobi accusing her of deciding to betray Fennes. Doluza warns Vinera to finish Dario off, but she refuses.

Dario tells Vinera to survive for her sake but she vows to stay by his side. Tyrrell is aghast but she tells him that he will come to understand her intentions if he falls in love someday. Tyrrell joins her side, confronting the Fennes along with her and Dario. Vinera is shocked and Tyrrell states that if it's important to Vinera, it is important to him.

Tyrrell says they need to hold on for reinforcements from Hourne, but Doluza claims the Hourne forces in the castle were already dealt with. The trio fights its way through the castle roaming with Doluza's forces and the Fennes shinobi.

Ep. 5: A Flickering Life I[]

Upon being surrounded by the Fennes shinobi, Dario unleashes his limit burst to wipe out an entire platoon. Tyrrell wonders why rumors of Dario's cowardice remain prevalent when Dario starts coughing, saying he does not have much time left, with Doluza confirming this is the case. Doluza pontificates on what's to become of Vinera following Dario's passing. Vinera would rather die than live in a world without Dario, with Dario being heavily against it.

Doluza offers Tyrrell an opportunity to redeem his traitorous actions, allowing him and Vinera to live happily if they kill Dario. Vinera tells Tyrrell that she will turn her sword at anyone who hurts Dario, and even if Tyrrell did kill Dario, Fennes wouldn't pardon his actions. When Dario falls to the floor Doluza calls the shinobi to attack. Tyrrell makes up his mind to protect Dario for Vinera, no matter what the cost.

Ep. 8: More Like a Prison[]

After routing the shinobi, Vinera carries Dario to a pillar, with Dario wanting to go outside as being in the castle is like a prison. Vinera asks Tyrrell to cover for them while Dario contemplates on his sister, Machérie who was probably already wed to Muraga though she had been crying for three days and nights about it. Had Dario not chosen to withdraw from the battlefield, his brave and proud sister would not have had to go through that. Vinera retorts that she is not Muraga's daughter. Doluza catches up to the trio with his shinobi and engages them in combat.

Ep. 10: Freedom[]

As the trio flees the castle following the battle, but Dario has lost his eyesight although happy to still hear the birds and smell the flowers. Doluza catches up once more, proclaiming to kill Dario. Dario retorts that he came there to die anyway, with Vinera begging Doluza to abandon his mission as Dario is already dying. Doluza wants to give the trio the greatest agony for betraying Fennes and the shinobi and the Doluza confront the trio one last time.

Doluza is defeated and Vinera tends to a fallen Dario, vowing to go with him, but Dario cannot grant her wish as he knows she is carrying his child and cannot involve himself in the killing of an innocent child. He hopes Vinera can let the child live as he or she wishes as he believes nothing is more precious than freedom. Dario wants Vinera to deliver his apology to Machérie and passes away in Vinera's arms. Tyrrell warns Vinera that someone's coming, with Vinera asking Dario to watch over her and their child.

Deceptive Vows, Honest Souls.

The marriage of Dario, prince of Hourne, and Vinera, princess of Fennes, was a political marriage designed to connect the two hostile nations. However, a sinister plot was brewing in the background.
Although the citizens of Hourne and Fennes put on smiles to celebrate the marriage, not a single person actually thought it would be a happy one...besides the prince and princess themselves, that is.
Without an inkling of each other's personality or appearance, the two were made to meet just before being bound in matrimony. It was not the case that they had mutually sought each other out, and although it was a relationship heavy with obligation and responsibility, he wrapped her in his arms and greeted her as a husband greets a wife, and her heart went on to open up further every time she encountered that kindness thereafter.
Whatever the circumstances and intentions surrounding their union had been, it eventually turned into a true binding of souls.
