The Crystal Cross is a weapon for Yuffie in Final Fantasy VII. It can be purchased in Mideel, and has stats on-par with weapons for other characters available there. Crystal Cross has six linked Materia slots.

Mechanics

As the Crystal Cross has a base Attack stat bonus of 74, the base damage for physical attacks when it is equipped is in the following formula:

where "Level" is Yuffie's current level and "Strength" is her Strength stat. The Crystal Cross also has an Attack% (Accuracy) of 110%, and grants a +18 bonus to Yuffie's Magic stat.

The Crystal Cross can be bought in Mideel. It is the strongest weapon for Yuffie overall at this point, but as the Highwind is available, there are other weapons that are slightly cheaper and excel in certain areas available elsewhere. The Crystal Cross has six linked Materia slots. Yuffie's average stats mean she can build the weapon towards either physical or magic damage, depending on player preference, and on how Yuffie is being used. Though her Limit Breaks include powerful multi-hit abilities, she also has Clear Tranquil that can give her a powerful free heal if left on level 1.

The Crystal Cross has three lots of paired Materia slots. As Yuffie can be played multiple ways, she can equip Magic and Summon Materia paired with Support Materia that can either boost spell damage or capitalize on a physical damage role (such as Elemental or Added Effect). Independent Materia can either be equipped on her armor or any excess slots.

Though Crystal Cross is Yuffie's strongest overall weapon until she acquires the Oritsuru, other weapons for her are available around the same time that serve certain niches. The Spiral Shuriken has eight Materia slots, a critical hit rate increase, and stats only barely lower than Crystal Cross, but only two of its slots are linked. The much cheaper Superball also has comparable stats and a larger critical hit rate, but no Materia slots. These weapons may serve Yuffie better in certain circumstances depending on the player's chosen playstyle for Yuffie, though otherwise, the Oritsuru and Conformer are the only major upgrades for Yuffie.
