"Crimson Sunrise" (紅の夜明け 〜クガネ:昼〜, Kurenai no Yoake ~Kugane: Hiru~?, lit. Crimson Dawn ~Kugane: Daytime~) is the field theme of Kugane in Final Fantasy XIV: Stormblood. It was composed by Masayoshi Soken and arranged by Kenichi Kuroda.

It is an arrangement of "Storm of Blood".

It is an important theme in Stormblood expansion pack, serving as the background music of Kugane during day time.

"Crimson Sunset" (紅の夜更け 〜クガネ:夜〜, Kurenai no Yofuke ~Kugane: Yoru~?, lit. Crimson Late Night ~Kugane: Night~) plays in Kugane during night time and it was arranged by Yukiko Takada.

"Crimson Sunrise" and "Crimson Sunset" are tracks 14 and 35 on the Stormblood: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.

It is part of the game's opening medley. Other arrangements include "Cradle", the theme of Ruby Sea, "Looping in the Deepest Fringes", the normal battle theme in Gyr Abania and all Othard areas, "Triumph", the last boss battle theme of every Stormblood dungeons, "Deception", the background music of Kugane Castle Kugane Castle, and "The Worm's Tail", the final boss battle in The Royal Menagerie The Royal Menagerie.

Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker[]

"Crimson Sunset (Journeys)" plays as the dungeon theme in the Mount Rokkon Mount Rokkon variant dungeon. It is taken from the Journeys: Final Fantasy XIV ~Arrangement Album~ and is track 64 on the Growing Light: Final Fantasy XIV Original Soundtrack.

"Crimson Rise" (紅のリッジライン ~異聞六根山~, Kurenai no Rijjirain ~Ibun Rokkon Yama~?, lit. Crimson Ridgeline ~Strange Tale Mount Rokkon~) is an arrangement that plays in the Another Mount Rokkon Another Mount Rokkon criterion dungeon. It is track 68 on the original soundtrack.

An orchestral arrangement of "Painted Red" was released with Sachiko Miyano as the arranger. It was conducted by Hirofumi Kurita and performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nikikai Chorus Group, with Kinya Sogawa playing the shakuhachi.

"Painted Red" is an orchestral arrangement of "Storm of Blood" and "Crimson Sunrise". A concert performance of "Painted Red" orchestrated by Sachiko Miyano for the Eorzean Symphony was recorded and appears on this album. It was conducted by Hirofumi Kurita and performed by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nikikai Chorus Group, with Kinya Sogawa playing the shakuhachi.

It is also in the Eorzean Symphony: Final Fantasy XIV Orchestral Album Vol.2 (Concert version).

Etymology[]

Kugane (黄金?) refers to the metal gold (Au), money, or the color gold in Japanese. The kogane (こがね?) reading is the more common kun'yomi for this term, compared to kugane (くがね?) and kigane (きがね?).
